We are only considering applications within driving distance of New Braunfels, TX. She will need to get to know a new family slowly over several visits before knowing if she is a good fit. Angel is a 6 year old English Setter with beautiful amber eyes. She was used for breeding at a local hunting ranch and spent most of her time in a kennel. She was surrendered to SWESR to find her an adoptive home. When Angel first came into rescue, she was very shut down and frightened, most likely due to not having very many experiences outside of her kennel. After a few weeks of warm beds, yummy food and lots of love, Angel has come out of her shell! Angel loves people, especially children. When she meets new people, her whole body starts to wiggle and her tails wags furiously. She is very loving. Angel also loves other dogs but needs to be properly introduced to them in her home environment. Her stress levels rise when she is in unknown territory and that makes it difficult for her to greet new dogs appropriately. Angel needs a family that will be willing to give her several weeks to adjust; it will take a little time for her to realize she is in her new home. When she feels nervous or overwhelmed, she needs a quiet place to "cool down". She enjoys the comfort and security of her crate. Angel's foster mom will help and support Angel's new family during her transition to her adoptive home. When Angel first came into rescue she was calm around cats, but has started focusing and obsessing on cats she sees, so we are looking for a feline-free home for her. Angel is very active and needs a large, securely fenced yard to run and play in. She also LOVES to go for walks with her family. When she has had enough exercise, she loves to come inside for a long nap. Angel will do best as an only dog, but she does well with play-dates that come to her house and she also does well on pack walks with neighbor dogs. Angel is not a candidate for dog parks. She is house-trained and crate-trained, but should not be off-leash outside of a fenced area for her safety. Angel will do best with a family that has experience with English Setters that have a lot of energy and prey drive. Angel is spayed, heartworm negative, up to date on shots.
